By extending its services, Co-Ownership Housing is now bringing the dream of home ownership to more local families. New product offering Rent to Own is an alternative route into home ownership. It’s a fixed-term rental commitment with an opportunity for future home ownership. The scheme is being delivered via OwnCo Homes, a subsidiary of Co-Ownership Housing, and aims to deliver around 100 affordable new homes.
Christine Nolan is the first tenant to move into a property purchased through the Rent to Own scheme. The property Christine selected is a new build in Dunmurry.
“I’m delighted to finally have my own home. Being able to choose my house and the specific internal finishes was such a delight. Both the Developer and Rent to Own staff were extremely helpful and made the process straightforward. I felt both informed and involved throughout. After spending almost 20 years’ renting, at long last I feel this beautiful place is a personal investment for my future.”
The product is available for homes in Northern Ireland and will typically provide new build turnkey type homes in the starter home price bracket of around £100,000 – £150,000, excluding one-bedroom properties and apartments.
Mark Graham, Chief Executive of Co-Ownership Housing said: “Rent to Own offers tenants a much better option than simply renting, with no prospect of a return. We are delighted the scheme has already been so well received and is experiencing significant interest. It is time for Northern Ireland to think differently about renting.”
